DEMAND FOR MORE EQUIPMENT & NEW TECHNOLOGIES
BY 2010

Vietnam textiles and garments industry was
ranked 16th out of 153 garment exporters
worldwide in 2007 and 2008 it has become the
10th largest garment exporter in the world.
The country has envisaged an ambitious plan to
achieve the export target of US$ 10-12 billion
a year by 2010.
VINATEX and the Vietnam National Oil & Gas
Group (PetroVietnam) the two giant groups
jointly build a synthetic fiber plant in
northern Hai Phong port city. The US$ 200
million plant is capable of turning out 500
tones of fire per day.
VINATEX plans to increase its investment in
order to meet production capacity of 300 and
400 million square meters of fabrics, 65 and
80 million knitting products, 190 and 250
million garments to the year 2010. In order to
meet those targets, VINATEX is considering
extensive investment operations by renovating
and improving obsolete facilities, to lead
production productivity and product quality to
meet regional and international standards.
VINATEX’s setting up new spinning, weaving &
knitting and finishing factories with vertical
operation, sourcing local material and
accessories as well as putting fiber and
synthetic producing factories into operation,
and expanding business worldwide by
establishing joint venture, business
co-operation in order to create long term and
stable development. VINATEX total investment
capital required for period of 2005 and 2010
is approximately US$ 800 million and US$ 900
million.
AUTHORITIES IN VIETNAM
VINATEX – The Viet Nam National Textile &
Garment Group was established as a merge
of all centrally State-owned enterprises in
the field of textile and garment. VINATEX
plays several different roles as manufacturer,
exporter, importer as well as distributor for
textile and garment in wholesale and retail
basis. It is to diversify variety of
activities ranging from investment,
production, supply, consumption to trading
according to the Law of Vietnam.
VITAS - Vietnam Textile & Apparel
Association is a non-governmental and
non-profit organization representing the
interests of all textile and apparel
enterprises in Vietnam, foreign and domestic
with the Government of Vietnam, and
international organizations. VITAS key points
to promote Vietnamese textile and garment
products in the world markets, and advise the
Government and other relevant bodies, on its
capacity as a representative of the whole
industry for a successful integration into the
international economy, and act as a bridge
between textile - garment enterprises in
Vietnam and the outside world.
AGTEK - Association of Garments, Textiles,
Embroidery and Knitting was founded in
1993, has about 170 members in the HCM City
and surrounding provinces areas, and accounts
for about 20 percent of Vietnam’s apparel
exports. AGTEK plays significant roles in
garments and textiles industry, its providing
constantly update new technology and adviser
in exporter, importer, also offer advice and
training AGTEK’s member.

Saigon Exhibition & Convention Center (SECC)
- The Vietnam
Saigon Fabric & Garment Accessories Expo 2009
will be located to a brand new complex
completed Oct 2008. SECC located in the heart
of Phu My Hung New City, only 15 minutes from
the city centre and 30 minutes from Tan Son
Nhat International Airport, SECC is the
largest and the most modern Exhibition &
Convention Center of the South of Vietnam.
Four indoor exhibition halls totaling to
40,000 square meters, additional outdoor space
of 15,000-20,000 square meters, one 2,000-seat
convention center, one high-rise office tower,
and two international standard hotels of
4-star and 5-star.
