billion U.S. dollars in the first two months of this year, a year-on-year
rise of 31.1 percent, according to the Vietnam Textile and Apparel
Association (Vitas) on Wednesday. Vitas has encouraged local garment

United States, the European Union, and
Japan, and seek more new ones.

The Viet Nam Textile and Apparel Association (Vitas) has
launched an emulation movement to raise productivity and boost exports with
the aim of earning at least 7 billion USD in export turnover this year.
Vitas also urged local textile and garment businesses to seek more markets,
take the initiative in material supplies, and renew production technology to
increase the added value of their exported products.

|Vinatex forecasts 17% revenue growth (15/Jan/2007)|
State-run Viet Nam Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex)
predicts 17 per cent revenue growth this year to VND24.57 trillion (US$1.53
billion).The forecast was announced during the company’s annual general
meeting yesterday, during which executives reported VND21 trillion in 2006
earnings, up 16 per cent year-on-year.
|Textile Apparel Export 2006 Gained USD 5.8B (08/Jan/2007)|
Mr. Nguyen Duc Thanh - Chief of Textile Apparel
Administration Committee ( the Ministry of Trade) told that in 2006, textile
apparel export turnover was estimated to reach above 5.8 billion USD, a 22%
increase as compared with 2005. In this, export value to the U.S. market
gained about 2.2 billion USD, increased by around 25% compared to 2005.
